As I ease back into being here more often, I thought I would return to a beloved concept that has become a staple of what I publish during this beautiful season. So, here are 6 quotes on Autumn, plus this year’s moodboard!
6 Autumn Quotes (mostly poetry this year hehe)
from Haiku: This Other World, by Richard Wright
Autumn moonlight is Deepening the emptiness Of a country road
The autumn moon really does hit diffffff. Harvest and Hunter moon lovers are where it’s at <3
Wild is the music of autumnal winds. Amongst the faded woods
william wordsworth
I struggled to find the rest of this gorgeous piece, but this particular line is lovely. It sort of reminds me of Anne Shirley’s most hilarious imaginations regarding the woods :’)
from “October”, by Robert Frost
O hushed October morning mild, Thy leaves have ripened to the fall; To-morrow's wind, if it be wild, Should waste them all.
Frost always writes the prettiest, most imagistic, nature-heavy pieces everrrrr <3. Brb, gonna go binge read a bunch of his works rn.
“Autumn Fires”, by Robert Louis Stevenson
In the other gardens And all up the vale, From the autumn bonfires See the smoke trail! Pleasant summer over And all the summer flowers, The red fire blazes, The gray smoke towers Sing a song of season! Something bright in all! Flowers in the summer, Fires in the fall!
I just had to include the whole thing :’)
“November Night”, by Adelaide Crapsey
Listen... With faint dry sound, Like steps of passing ghosts, The leaves, frost crisp'd break from the trees And fall
I love how sensory this little piece is. Sound is introduced, right away, but then scent also makes its way in. The crunch of leaves, the gentle push of the wind that makes them fly down to be beneath our feet, and that cosy dampness of the air.
The chilled air smelled of woodsmoke, of distances and passing time. Frost glimmered on the morning fields. Crows called across the pewter afternoons.
