Though I hate, so very much, that I have continually said I would be consistently returning to this space (for months and months now, practically a whole year, tbh), and I have not—it really does feel nice to be here again. This has truly been the busiest year of my life so far, and I really think I’m just now finding more of a balance, a healthier routine, and a better ability to adapt. (I’m still not all the way there just yet!) In any case, I would like to be here as often as possible for the rest of this year, and I’m starting that off with a tentative end of year tbr. Here are the books I’d like to get to before 2022 is up. Whether or not I finish all of them will certainly remain to be seen!
Rereads
First, a book I am absolutely certain I will begin and finish in the next two months: The Lord of the Rings. I read it every single year without fail, and I am excited to pick it up in the late parts of the year once more. It is the cosiest read in these autumn/winter months. And, I’m very much looking forward to reading it in this stunning edition—this was a Christmas gift from Keely :’) luvuuuu brie <333
Another Christmas gift, this beautiful vintage edition of another one of my all time favourite novels: An Old Fashioned Girl. Thank you Audrey <3 I didn’t actually get around to picking it up last year (I usually always reread each year), and I sorely miss Polly and her friends, so I’m very much looking forward to it!
New-to-me reads
I have heard nothing but rave reviews. My cousin, Julie, says that this is the cosier, English version of Les Mis—in terms of its sprawling cast and plot. Seeing as how it is so idyllic, I’d love to slot it into my reading time in these very snug and cheery months left in the year. This is one that I feel confident about starting, but less confident about finishing before 2022 comes to a close.
I absolutely INHALED Dune in the month of July, earlier this year. Though I picked this up shortly after and meant to read it then, I have been rather behind my Goodreads goal this year. Been entirely too busy with work and school, so reading (& this space) took a place on the back burner after summer. I cannot wait any longer, and I’m very much looking forward to reading this in the weeks left in 2022.
Considering the length of these, I am certain I’ll get to them! I nearly screamed when I discovered these two-in-one Tolkien classics earlier this year, and I am absolutely enamoured by the fact that Pauline Baynes illustrated them. (She illustrated all of The Chronicles of Narnia, hehe.) Her style is nostalgic, darling, and forever charming.
Sonnets of the Portuguese is a collection I have been wanting since I was a sophomore in undergrad. That’s when I was properly introduced to Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s work, and I have been besotted ever since.

This end of year tbr is by no means an exhaustive list—there is no way I could only read six books for the remainder of 2022—but it is an amalgamation of titles I absolutely would like to get to in November and December. I am realising now that I completely forgot to take a photo of The Remains of the Day, oops! This will be my very first Ishiguro, and if possible, I am hoping to buddy read with Audrey + Evie.
