I write this on Easter Sunday afternoon, after sipping some black coffee alongside homemade chocolate cake. It’s been a day full of life & the celebration of the resurrection of my Saviour. I’m feeling especially grateful on this day, so that makes it the perfect time to reflect on the blessing of the past month. Here’s my March ’20 Edit!!

Well, we shan’t ignore the obvious. We almost made it to the middle of the month before everything went topsy-turvy. In a matter of three days, America dramatically changed its approach to COVID-19, and lockdowns started happening all over the country. Aside from that, the first 13 days were fairly normal and full of all the wonderful things we were taking for granted at the time…
March held so many promises at its onset: a fresh start, March Madness, Spring Equinox, and the return of baseball :’) We were living our best, normal, lives, going to and from school and work, exam revision, café trips, and all the rest.
In any case, the March ’20 Edit won’t be one that I forget very quickly!!
Too much fun? Maybe :’)
I was very much trying to tell myself that I could afford all the coffee runs I was making, all the food bits I was having, and the little pieces from the bookstore I was buying :’) Hey! I had just learned that I did pretty dang well on the midterms I had been stressed about that last week of February, so…
After driving past an Uncle Harry’s for most of my life, I FINALLY tried it out. I grabbed a blueberry bagel and cream cheese to compliment my iced coffee. Will be doing again when wandering around town is no longer borderline illegal…

here are my eyeballs from an afternoon drive home for no reason whatsoever lolz
Obviously, now I’m glad I was “treating” myself because when will I have the chance to do so again?! 😉 Since I had just given up Starbucks for Lent, I could continue my café hopping in earnest. I was on a bit of a mission to discover new (to me) coffee & tea places around town, and I was having a good run at it before quarantine hit :’) Kuppa Joy is an old-favourite, so I checked out their latest location and made more than a couple trips to the Joy Thru when that was a bit more convenient.
The Last Week of Normal…
I finally had Peet’s coffee when I went to Eddie’s Bakery & Café, and I grabbed myself some breakfast that morning too. The quiche was DIVINE, and the hashbrowns were heavenly.
Barnes & Noble, aka my favourite store ever, saw me quite a few times that last week too :’) I picked up some journals (one might have been for the new story I spontaneously decided to start whilst I was at the new Kuppa Joy), and I also purchased Shadow & Bone because I realllly wanna read the trilogy before the Netflix show drops!!
Other than that, I was popping in and out of stores for the odd bit (like some of the St. Patrick’s pieces pictured above hehe).
Self-isolation adventures begin!!
I am very blessed that both of my parents are teachers, so we don’t have any real worries right now. We get to spend all day together, and that’s one of the beautiful silver linings of this whole situation.
Aside from some major technological issues I had the first couple of weeks of being at school online, there haven’t been many struggles, and it’s swell to be able to do school in bed… SOMETIMES. I’m the biggest advocate for not working in bed!!!

Having a new routine is funnnnn! I get to sleep in a little, stretch, down some water, do my morning devotions, eat breakfast with my family — without any rush. Schoolwork can be done at my desk, the kitchen table, or outside. Not a bad deal :’)
Although I was already making more coffee at home (Lent/saving $$$ in general), I’ve obviously been doing that quite a bit more now, & experimenting with new flavours or latte attempts has been pretty sweet! Loads of baking too, so far, I’ve made two banana loaves, biscuits, scones, and choc chip cookies. ~We also cooked a pretty solid dinner for my parents one evening, such fun~

I started reading poetry, and it is dreamy to escape this way. Can confirm that poetry reading under the sun, while the birds are singing, and a soft, Spring, breeze brushes across your face, is a lovely experience.
