Fall is finally making itself comfortable here in California, and I’m going to enjoy every second of what’s left before Thanksgiving comes and the Christmas tunes follow. What better way to keep celebrating Autumn than with a Fall Bucket List Book Tag?? The wonderfully brilliant Marie (& Nyx!) of Drizzle & Hurricane Books tagged me to take part, and I’m so excited to share my answers 🙂
(Not gonna lie to y’all, I tried to keep this selection mostly fluffy & fun, but I have this thing for books that bring me tears and some emotional pain, so bear that in mind haha!)
Rules

- Link back to the original creator in your post
- Use Marie’s lovely graphics (as I have done), or make your own!
- Tag 7 other people to take part, & let them know that you’ve done so
Let’s get cracking!!

Emma by my absolute queen, Jane Austen, is one of the most lighthearted reads I finished recently. Our protagonist, Emma Woodhouse has a lot of fun living in her own little bubble and thinking just a ~BIT~ too much of herself until it all comes to a hilariously tragic head.
I don’t want to spoil this lovely book because you all NEED to read it and experience it for yourself, but you are NOT READY for some of the best plot twists to come your way.

PEETA HECKIN’ MELLARK. I adore him; I love him; I would DIE for him. Not to be dramatic, or anything. But like. I would. You get to see a lot more his baking skills in Catching Fire, and yeah, okay, maybe it’s ~only~ like little cameos of him making Katniss and Haymitch rolls, but STILL. (Can y’all tell he’s my fav character from The Hunger Games trilogy??? If not, read this, and you will.)

Ohhhh, guys. I’m not even going get started here because I have a whole blog post planned about this BRILLIANT and BITTERSWEET and BLOODY LOVELY duology. BUT. This is my pick for “hype” because, duh. And also because I don’t feel like I read a lot of YA, so this is all I have to offer :’)

The only book I don’t have a photo of because I don’t own a copy of it: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Unfortunately, I unwittingly watched the Netflix adaptation before I realised that it was a book first, and I fell. in. love. When I finally got around to reading the novel earlier this year, it was too good!! The way these characters’ lives intertwine is so sweet, and the friendships that grow from it are too precious for this world.

JANEY, YOU RELATABLE CHARACTER, YOU. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte has actually surpassed my love for Wuthering Heights, which I never thought possible. (Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore WH, but Jane and her Mr. Rochester really stole my heart.)
What did I tell y’all about my affinity for books that make me cry and cause some degree of pain?? Here is one prime example, if Catching Fire or SoC/CK weren’t enough.
Let me tell you, when Jane said, “That a greater fool than Jane Eyre had ever breathed the breath of life, that a more fantastic idiot had ever surfeited herself on sweet lies and swallowed poison as if it were nectar,” I FELT THAT on a ~spiritual~level~

I cannot even begin to EXPRESS just how much joy and satisfaction that An Old-Fashioned Girl (pictured above) brings me. Louisa May Alcott remains an icon for a REASON, people. If you were unaware of this novel, BE AWARE NOW!!! And beware that it just might steal your heart. (Hehe, wow I’m so punny.)
Polly Milton is my ultimate literary heroine. I adore her with all my heart and soul and being. If ever I have aspired to be like any character, she’s it. Her grace and sense of self, her strength and firm convictions, her sweet and kind soul are something that I truly wish to emulate. And her happy ending is PURE BLISS.
I tag…

- Audrey of Brunch at Audrey’s
- Evie of Evie Jayne
- Tabitha of Late Nights & Lattes
- Daniella of The Little Book Spy
- Lauren of Literary Dates
- Rain of The Withering
- And, you, if you’d like to do this 😉
Absolutely no pressure to do this tag ladies, but I’m thinking of you all, hehe <3
Did you like my picks for this Fall Bucket List Book Tag? Are there any choices you’d swap for some of these categories? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments… 🙂
