As I mentioned in Books I’m Rereading this Autumn, this post was supposed to go up a lot sooner than it is now—the start of Fall, rather than the middle of November :’) (soz that sentence was a bit of a mess.) Anyhow, this is my Autumn 2020 Reading List!! Here are the books that I’ve been/will be getting through during this Autumn season (:
Tolkien Bio’s & Literary Criticism
I picked all of these up over summer!! There was no way I could resist any one of them, and it seemed like a sign when I made my way back to A to Z books, and the Humphrey Carpeneter bio was still there. The literary criticism I purchased in June, and the Michael White bio I grabbed in August. I’m so ready to cosy up with these during November!
Dickens’ Pickwick Papers
I also bought this in June, and I’d like to dive into another chunky classic before the end of the year. Seeing as how I read Great Expectations at the start of 2020, it’ll be nice to read another Dickens as the year draws to a close.
Bronte’s Shirley
Okay, okay. So I’ve already read this particularly glorious classic :’) I might still write a mini-review on it, so that might be incoming. I was swept away by this incredible novel!! (Picked this one up in June as well, lol.)
Non-fic pick: Nikolaus Wachsmann’s KL
I feel like I’ve mentioned this book too many times on the blog without having read it yet :’) (One example: Birth-Date Books.) I got it as a birthday gift TWO YEARS ago, and I have yet to read it. It was the one I was most looking forward to reading, out of the three non-fic, WW2, books that were gifted to me. So, I put off reading it until I had read the other two (Dunkirk: Retreat to Victory & The Gestapo: A History of Horror), and here we are, 2 years later lol. Anyway, looking forward to get into this soon.
Not pictured: Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. Going to buddy read with Lauren of Literary Dates, and it hasn’t arrived yet as of this post’s publication.
edit: I TOTALLY FORGOT TO TAKE A PICTURE/INCLUDE Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. This is one of the reads I am ~most~ looking forward to, and I can’t believe I left it on my shelf the day I took these photos omg :’)
That’s it for my Autumn 2020 Reading List!! I’m excited for each and every single one of these reads. Have you read any of these titles? What are you looking forward to reading as the year comes to a close?
P.S. I tried to recreate the glorious pictures I took last year, for my Autumnal Book List. Those remain my most favourite photos ever, and I know I didn’t match them w/these, but they came close, and I love them a lot :’)
P.S.S. I’m so close to hitting my Goodreads goal for the year!! Friend me over there, I’d love that (:
