Ah, Autumn. Though it looked quite different from previous years, it was still a sweet season for me. Today, I bid Autumn 2020 a fond farewell, until next year, Lord willing! Here are my favourite moments from the last three months (:
September
I had my traditional Autumn day on the 26th: I decorated for Autumn, enjoyed an Auburn football game (~war eagle~), had a PSL, lit all the candles, and generally had a wonderful time.
Friday’s have become takeout & movie night since the start of the new school year, so that has been an enjoyable staple to this season.
The rest of the month was characterised by enjoying the start of Autumn, and I had lots of seasonal drinks :’)
October
The month was begun delightfully with the celebration of my cousin’s 17th birthday (boy does time fly). We (my two siblings and two cousins) had elevensies at Mimi’s Café, an old family favourite, and the food was supreme!!! Us girls had cappuccinos (I opted for iced), and all of us got scrumptious dishes—I had quiche, one of us had waffles, etc etc etc. Then, we spent an hour or so at Barnes & Noble.
Julie and I are both “young for our age”, so when she graduates, she’ll only be 17, as I was! :’) I’m so proud of the young woman she is becoming & am immensely blessed that we’re best friends. How sweet is it that I have a cousin who shares the same interests (ie books, classic lit, lotr, theology, etc), enjoys the same kind of stimulating conversation, and who enriches my life <333 love u julies xxx
Again, I had a quiet month mostly, but it was closed nicely by a weekend trip to Monterey…
My Nana turned 85 this year, and she wanted to go to the coast for her birthday! We had such a fun time with her, and I’m so glad we got to spoil her on the trip.
We walked Fisherman’s Wharf & Cannery Row, ate loads of good seafood, and went shopping at Carmel-by-the-Sea. Melody and I tried Turkish Delight for the first time (we are ~not~ counting the time me and Julie attempted to make it & it came out rubbish HAHA), and had delish coffee each day we were there. It was a lovely trip.
We also had everyone try Pizza-My-Heart (aka the BEST pizza in the entire state, possibly in the entire world). It’s a tried & true family fav on my dad’s side, so it was fun to introduce it to my mom’s side. They liked it a lot, so it was a success!!!
November
Another slow and quiet month (although has this year really been slow?!?!?). November was filled with a solid go at NaNoWriMo, clinging to the gym until they closed it again, and enjoying each day.

Though I failed at NaNo, it was not entirely unproductive! I had a great experience making writing a daily habit, and all in all, I retained a steady flow of inspiration. I’m hoping to finish my story before the end of the year!
I turned 21 (s/o to my friends & family who absolutely SPOILED me this year, gifting me the books I really really wanted & more). I felt exceptionally loved this year. Thanksgiving was wonderful; I made a chai carrot loaf & a chai pumpkin cake, both with brown butter frosting. Then we finished the month at Mt. Hermon!

As usual, Mt. Hermon was an epic family moment, and though we went the day after Thanksgiving, which meant I had to stress watch the Iron Bowl far from home (also we lost, bama is just too good this year), and I couldn’t decorate for Christmas as I usually do on Thanksgiving weekend, it was a wonderful time!
We stopped at Casa on the way (ofc), tried Coffee Cat for the first time (it was good), had a late night beach ramble, and enjoyed the fresh air. Mouth-watering food was consumed (LOTS of PMH), & many cosy moments were spent in the beloved cabin. Gayle’s was of course visited once more, we returned to charades (always hilarious), and played UNO once more. We have a long history with UNO, with many shouts and cries of “brutal” and “murder!” because we play that game aggressively and it is FUN :’)
That’s a wrap on my farewell to Autumn 2020! While it’s always a bit of a bummer to say goodbye, I am a Christmas girl at heart, and we are now in the most wonderful time of year 😉 What was one (or two, or three) of your Autumn 2020 highlights?
