How does every summer manage top the year before?? Summer ’19 was full of highlights and happy moments. I always feel so fulfilled when summer comes around; IT’S MY TIME TO SHINE AND THRIVE. At this point, each and every summer has been so good to me that I don’t even worry about the next one being “less than.” I kinda already know it’s just going to keep getting sweeter. I’m sure that one day, things won’t be so peachy keen during the summer months, but such is life, and until then, I’m going to enjoy every moment of every summer day.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t only feel fulfilled during summer. I do my best to live in the moment every single day, and I truly enjoy the rest of my year. There’s just something so magical about summertime that gets to me.
Anyhow, summer is now well and truly over, and I am SAD about it. It was SO FREAKIN GOOD MY GUYS. Usually, the come-down after our annual Pismo trip is pretty intense, I sorta mope around feeling very sorry for myself that I’m not there anymore—very much a first-world problem, I know. However, this year, I was fairly busy after coming back, and we even went on a couple more smaller trips. It didn’t really hit me until the week school started, which is currently the situation as I write this. (This post is going up as I go into my third week of the semester.)
I’ve been looking back on all of the pictures & video from this summer, feeling very sad it’s no longer the most wonderful time of the year (next to Christmas of course, because it IS tied with Summer in my heart, even if this post doesn’t make it seem so), and I’ve been trying to close in upon my summer 2019 highlights. I can categorically say that 99.9% of my summer was wonderful, and I had virtually no bad days. So, even the days I was at home, “not doing anything,” were lovely and up there with the trips. Shall we delve into the highlights and happy moments of the Summer??
June
The regular days at home or my grandparents’ homes. Running my own day, waking up early to hit the gym, coming home and having breakfast, utilizing my time to just read for hours, watch a movie, spend time with my siblings, and bask in having zero responsibilities is one of the BEST feelings. Heading to my Nana’s for the day, taking a dip in the pool, sunbathing, racing across the water with my siblings, eating hamburgers & ice cream outside and then getting back into the water, and driving less than a mile to see my other grandma was so LOVELY. We did this all summer long, and it was pure bliss.
Vacation Bible School at my church. I briefly mentioned this week in my June highlights, as it was the last week of that month. It’s always a fun, albeit somewhat stressful, week, and I always enjoy it.
July ~HAPPY HAPPY moments intensify~
Our little excursion to San Diego. We spent the day after VBS packing & prepping for this trip, and we took off the next day. Walking through Old Town & Downtown, as well as dinner by the sea and shopping at Seaport Village, hitting La Jolla Beach, and being in the hometown of my favourite band, Switchfoot, was the best.

INDEPENDENCE DAY. Ya girl is very patriotic, so it’s absolutely no surprise that the 4th of July is my fav holiday, again, right next to Christmas. We spent the day with both of our grandmothers and finished it off by watching 1776, the best gosh darn musical ever, and YES, it’s superior to Hamilton, imo.
PISMO!!!! A few days after the 4th, we departed for Pismo & the happiest 8 days of my year. We always go with my tio, tia, and two cousins, and it is SUCH FUN. I already have two posts up about this very happy, lovely, wonderful, marvelous week, and I actually might have a couple more to share. So far, I’ve documented one of the days we spent in downtown Pismo Beach and what the gorgeous beach looks like at different times of the day.
August

A SECOND, small Pismo trip right at the start of the month. Our first stop was the beach, and after heading back to the hotel and getting ready, had Italian for dinner and did some shopping at the outlets. Although the next day was departure day, we still made the most of it and went to Nan’s Pre-Owned Books and did some thrift shopping in Grover Beach. As we didn’t hit Avila Animal Farm on our exit during the first trip, we did so this time around. Bravo Farms is our last stop before we hit the final stretch home, so we stopped there and grabbed a small bite and had some delish Doc Burnstein’s ice cream.
SF Giants ballgame. It’s manager Bruce Bochy’s last year; we thought it would be our star pitcher’s last season with the Giants (thankfully he did NOT get traded), so we wanted to go see our favourite lineup before everything changed. Literally the DAY WE DROVE OUT TO THE GAME, SECOND BASEMAN JOE PANIK was DFA’d (designated for assignment, meaning he was essentially traded & we didn’t get to see him one last time), so that was a bummer. BUT. The garlic fries, hot chocolate, and other ballpark foods were so bomb, as always.
Summer ’19, I miss you. Endlessly. However, I am excited to compile the clips and pictures to make cute little edits of these last three months.
What were some of your summer highlights and/or happy moments this year?? Let me know in the comments ? Hearing about what made other people happy over the last couple of months would put a smile on my face <3
