Ahhh, San Diego. Where to begin with this wonderful little trip? I’d never been to San Diego before this year, so to say I was immensely excited is an understatement. 4 days there wasn’t enough as there was still so much of Downtown & Old Town SD to explore. However, seeing La Jolla Beach, shopping around Seaport Village, and walking through Downtown at night were lovely things to do on my first adventure in this city.

Day One: consisted of driving six hours, hitting LA traffic (we hit it on the way back too smh :/), a stop at Starbucks, arriving, relaxing in the hotel room, and a delish Mexican dinner in Old Town SD. Right before dinner, we watched Toy Story 4, and OH MY GOSH. It got to me :'( We were all a mess, but my dad wisely said that it was very realistic & reflective of life. There were some strong messages of true grace, and although it was one of the biggest tearjerkers in the series, it had some of the best themes.

Day Two: drove around—saw the Chargers & Padres old stadium and a few other sights. Walked through a small amusement park-shopping & food centre (the name escapes me) & had a little snack there. Went out to dinner (at a couple places actually—I wanted a pita & my mom wanted hummus, so we stopped at one place for that, and everyone else got pizza at another spot :’)). We picked up some donuts to finish the night off.

Day Three: beach day!! La Jolla was very warm, & the water was perfect. Had a lovely few hours sunbathing, reading, and going into the sea periodically to cool down and soak up the saltwater. Headed back to the room to get ready for some thrift-shopping in downtown SD ~successfully bought a cute dress~ and dinner & a bit more shopping at Seaport Village ~acquired a little gold necklace & some old Hollywood movie star prints~

Day Four: departure. Threw the frisbee around a park for a bit and played a little basketball before the long six-hour drive home. I always enjoy the car drive up more than the car drive back because going up has so much promise whilst going back means the end of the trip. However, I do still enjoy the home drive, and this one was no exception. I got some blog posts written (as I did on the way up), read a couple books, and took a fat nap before arriving back in the triple-digit Central Valley. It was a lovely trip all in all, and I can’t wait to go back to San Diego to explore the city some more. One of these years I’m going to make it there for my favourite band, Switchfoot. Both to watch them perform in their hometown, and to support their annual Bro-Am charity surf & music event that gives back to the community & children of SD. Have you ever been to San Diego?? What should I see on my next trip there?
