I thought I’d share a little poem, “I pine for the Sea evermore”, that I wrote a couple of months ago, when my burning desire to be near the Sea was at its climax. If I remember correctly, it was shortly into my Summer holidays whilst quarantine restrictions were tighter. The idea for this title popped into my head, and I knew I had to do something with it! Thus, this poem was born.
This poem is a solid reflection of all that I adore and find wondrous about the sea, and I hope you get a Voyage of the Dawn Treader type of sea spray when you read this 😉 (That was a horribly structured, nonsensical sentence.) Anyway…
I pine for the Sea evermore
I pine for the Sea evermore Its waves and crescendo I seek The soft and Golden shore Is sure, lush, and sleek I long to tread the dunes The feel of sand on feet Sunflowers, seaweed, June My joy invincible complete I pine for the Sea evermore The brine within my hair My heart begins to soar Oh sweet July so fair A heart of Saltwater I have come to adore The Call grows hotter Summer beckons with allure I pine for the Sea evermore My cares forever here cease For the Sea erases my war This is home; my soul is at peace
Thank you for reading!! When was the last time you made it to the ocean? Will you be able to head back out there soon? I’m very blessed that my favourite beaches here in California are open, and I’ve been able to assuage my longing a couple of times these last two months (social-distancing style, of course!)
p.s. here’s my vsco for some more seaside snaps 😉
p.s.s. here’s some more of my creative writing, if you’re interested (:
