Sweet Olivia nominated me for the Good Reading Habits tag after she wrote about her own!! I’m so excited to share what I think are some my better reading habits, even if they’re not everyone’s cup of tea 😉
The very simple rules are to link to the original post, list some of your good reading habits, & tag a few friends. (Will do at the end, and there’s no pressure to do this at all ;))
Where I’m solid…
For starters, I am very, very, very good at making sure I read before bedtime. I have a nice, solid, nighttime routine nailed, & the last part of my day is solely dedicated to reading. No phone, no screentime, nothing but me being curled up in bed, all moisturised, lip balm on, and a book to take me to dreamland :’)
I’m pretty good at balancing 3 or 4 different reads at once! There are usually two that I read very slowly, like books on apologetics/theology/non-fiction. I take more time to absorb them.
And then I usually have two other reads, one that I take with me to classes, and another that I read while I’m at home. It usually has to do with the convenience of the thing. For example, I’m not going to be lugging around my huge copy of Lord of the Rings with me to school, so I save that for home or the weekends.
This brings me to my next “good” reading habit, and it’s probably the weirdest one. I’ve never heard of anyone doing something like this, so I would LOVE to hear if you’re like me in this regard :’) I save particular books for specific times of the year or the weekends. It all started when I began to associate The Chronicles of Narnia with glorious summertime, and… the rest was history. I might make this point its own post one day, so stay tuned? If you’d like?
Re-reading. I am bladdy good at it. Ever since I was a little girl, I have gone back to reads that gave me all the happy emotions or all the deepest feels. I have to experience the magic again!! I just have to.
And finally, I am all about heckin’ classics!!!! They are classics for a reason, and they are very much worth delving into. No, it’s not elitist to like them, and no, they’re not all written by dead, white men, and no that’s not a negative even when it is the case. Quality knows no gender or age. It’s just quality. If they’re not your cup of tea, fine! But they deserve a chance, and they certainly don’t deserve a bad rap 😉 The Orangutan Librarian has a FABULOUS post defending classics, and I highly, highly recommend that y’all read it (:
Where I’m somewhere in the middle…

I am getting better at annotating, and I do it here & there :’)
I’m becoming more accustomed to using physical bookmarks, rather than dog-earing pages, but I have no real preference.
Although I’m not at all a pro at Goodreads, I do use it to scroll through my feed & update progress on what I’m reading.
I’ve improved the expanse of genres I read even if only slightly. Last year, I willingly read two non-fiction, historical reads, as well as my first real introduction to YA fantasy when I entered the Grishaverse with Six of Crows.
Tagging: Audrey // Evie // Lauren // Marie (or Nyx! ;)) // Daniella // Melissa
That’s a wrap up on my good reading habits!! Are there any here that you also resonate with? Disagree with? I’d love to hear what your good reading habits are 🙂 Thanks again to Olivia for tagging me!
