Day 8 of Blogmas 2019 is a little late today because I have to write what feels like 24935729104859320 words for two papers & one zine. Today, I’d like to share 10 tips for a festive night-in. I’m sure there are a lot of you who are like me, and a cosy evening at home can be much more appealing than a night out. Shall we begin?
Creating a Festive Ambiance
Turn on that Christmas music!! I have two, 5.5 hour Christmas playlists, and I will happily switch them on at any time during the month of December. You can find them here & here.
Light some festive candles. I adore Gold Canyon or Bath & Body Works for all my scent needs. Nothing else sets the mood like a Christmas scent permeating the room.
Finally, turn on the lights to your Christmas tree, and sit near it. If you’ve got multiple rooms with lights about, then you’ve got a nice pick of places to settle in for the night. The warmth of Christmas lights automatically creates that cosy feeling!
If you haven’t already…

Decorate for Christmas!! Set out your decorations, put your tree together, & hang those ornaments. Surely, stringing up the lights outside counts as a night-in? Go for that too 😉
Write your Christmas cards. Get out your stickers and coloured pens & get creative. Don’t forget your stamps!! This brings me to my next tip…
Activities for your night-in

Turn on the telly/Netflix/dvd player, and pick a Christmas film. Love Actually, It’s a Wonderful Life, even Elf if that’s your pick 😉 Why not write out your Christmas cards whilst you watch the Kranks get un-festive hehe. You can do most of your Christmassy activities with a movie on in the background!
Do some Christmas-themed visual journaling/scrapbooking. (I like to call it visual journaling because technically I’m not scrapbooking any memories when I paste & pretty up some magazine or old calendar bits. Also, I might do a Blogmas post on this, but I’m not sure yet!) Grab your coloured pencils, stickers, and make a physical mood board of sorts.

If you haven’t already picked out your warm, tasty, beverage of choice for this cosy night in, get to it!!! Make some hot choc, brew some decaf, put the tea kettle on, and grab one of your festive mugs from the cabinet. And if you’re too lazy, you can always drive over to Starbucks real quick to order any of those 😉

Take a Christmas book down from your shelves, cosy up by the fireplace, & get reading! A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is an absolute clasic, and there’s no better time to read it than during the month of December.
I seem to have misplaced two of my FAVOURITE, traditional Christmas reads that I read everyyy year. If I find them, you best believe there will be a blogmas post on those :’)
So…

How did you like my 10 tips to a festive night-in?! Have you already had one of these cosy evenings? I’ve only been able to implement a few of these tips here & there over the course of this month, and I’m looking forward to having the ULTIMATE Christmassy night-in before the day comes (:
