It’s 2020 ladies!!!!! A new year of reading is upon us, & I’m so excited to see what reads are in store for me as we start this decade. When I wrote these goals up, I realised they could be a little ambitious since every year gets a little bit busier. I’m looking forward to making them happen as much as possible though! Here are my 2020 reading goals (:

I’m putting my total reading goal at 60 books. I aimed for 50 last year and hit 60 easily, so why not aim for what I know I can probably achieve–even with all the busyness of schoolwork, family, friends, work, etc. Now for the breakdown…
The Specifics

Classics: 12. I was inspired by Evie to read one classic a month! I’m a huuuuge fan of classics–everything from Jane Austen to Charles Dickens. Some of the classics I plan on picking up will be re-reads, like Oliver Twist, but I plan on reading novels like East of Eden as well! I’m going to try and read classic pieces as well–not as book tallies because obviously The Cask of Amontillado isn’t gonna count, BUT I want to be sure that I read more classic-everything.

I’d like to read at least 5 books on theology. I mentioned in my Christmas Break Plans post that I want to start getting more serious about studying apologetics, theology, and all that good stuff. C.S. Lewis and Wayne Grudem are at the top of my list.
Another 5 books will be alotted to nonfiction! Last year, I read 3 nonfiction books, and since I’m a history major, I want to continue upping that ~on my own~ :’)

In 2019, I read about 12 “new” books (books that I had never read before), so at the very least, I’d like to match that in 2020. I’m looking forward to branching out and reading more YA & YA fantasy, hi Leigh Bardugo. (I guess the classics/theology/nonfiction books I’ve never read before can be classed into this category as well, but I’m kinda aiming for 12, all-new-to-me, fiction novels to put here.)

What’s leftover…
So, where does that leave me? I’ve still got 26 books left. I always, always, always reread The Chronicles of Narnia, and that’s 7 books. The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion are also musts for me, and that’s 3. Now, I’m left with 16 books that I have no particular plans for, and that’s kinda nice. There’s going to be a lot of overlap to these categories, I’m sure, but I’m excited to tackle these reading goals!!
Those are my 2020 reading goals!! I’ve never had a structured plan for reading before, so I’m looking forward to this. I’d love to hear what your 2020 reading goals are!! <3
