I cannot believe we are heading back into March–ALL OVER AGAIN. Sometimes, it is distinctly difficult to believe that we are swiftly approaching a whole year of world-turned-upside-down-topsy-turvy-pandemic-what-is-going-on. I hope, however, that all of you reading this are keeping hopeful and feel optimistic about the future. familia & friends
I was very fortunate and happy to actually see a couple of my friends this month & spend some quality time with them. Catching up with Natalie, in particular, after not having seen her in person since the day we both found out school was cancelled, was so LOVELY.
The groupchat which my siblings & I have with our two closest cousins saw some jolly & high-spirited times in February. Julie made the most AMUSING quiz of “who’s most likely to…”, so we were creasing for the whole of two hours.
Valentine’s Day was so exceptionally sweet this year :,( Usually, my dad gets me (& my sister & mama, obvs) flowers and a card, and it just makes my whole day. This year, we all ended up getting each other little things without realising, and it was such a wonderful surprise for us all—I opened my door that morning to flowers, cards, sweethearts, little cute valentine’s, & a starbs giftcard :’)
solo adventures
I have enjoyed some lovely walks—whether they were taken in the cold & crisp mornings, or the dusky, nippy evenings—they have been heavenly.
A little bookish mail came this month: my purchase of 1965-70 editions of the C.S. Lewis Space Trilogy! I am so excited to get into this series as I’ve been meaning to for years; I might even start them sometime in March.
This year, I actually decided to celebrate v-day. I always bear an appreciation for the day, but I’ve never actually celebrated on my own before. So, on v-day eve, I curled up with the last two episodes of *ahem, tommy shelby*, some 95% dark choc (we love to see it), a bit of rosé, deep skincare, & my heated blanket. ‘Twas an evening well spent.
Finally bought some matcha at the store & had a delicious amount of matcha lattes at home. It’s really the little things.
I’m happy with a lot of the bookstagrams I took! I finally starting using lightroom as well, & I’ve created my own preset which I love and use in addition to the ones I made on VSCO last year.
The Shadow & Bone IGN Fan Fest panel!!! Don’t need to say anymore, really, but I will. IN LOVE WITH ALL OF THEM. THEY ARE ALL BRILLIANT. Particularly obsessed with Ben & Freddy as they really UNDERSTAND THEIR OWN CHARACTERS. The rest of them do as well (hello, amita, reading SoC in one sitting), and I do love them for it, but the way those two spoke about their characters in particular, just made me swoon in a literary way. S&B production really hit gold with their casting, still can’t get over how well they’re PERFECTLY, and I mean, PERFECTLY, cast.
january wasn’t too thrilling, but there were still a few nice & notable moments
Went to Kuppa Joy for the first time in agessss & really enjoyed my Almond Joy. Traipsed over to the Book Nook after & picked up some essays by Orwell & Emerson (which I kinda mentioned in my 2021 reading goals).
Got my film developed from when we went to the snow spontaneously a few days after Christmas.
Speaking of December, I realised that I never documented when I hit my 60/60 reading challenge!! It was actually on the 20th, and my 60th book was The Wicked King — which I am going to talk about soon :’) (i miss u, cardan <3)
