“Nothing ever seems impossible in Spring, you know.”
Graduation season hit full force, I locked in even more with the jimmmm, friend dates left right and centre, and the Celtics broke and restored and ultimately shattered my heart all month long.
May was a month of marvels. Special moments and family milestones were reached and there were little joys all around.
Work was nothing but loveliness in its final days. Although some of our friends ended up requiring more help, it was a wonderful chance to trust that the Lord knows what’s best for them, and a reminder that my only job is to shower them with the love of Christ, being as patient and as kind as I can be. After all, working in education means working to serve children who are image bearers of God, children who deserve a wonderful education and all the help that they require.
Work + friendship

May was also the month of time with friends, and oh, such treasured time it was. Coffee dates with Keely and Claire, the Cinco de Mayo festival with Keely to watch some of my sweet girls perform folklorico, din dins with Keely, Mel, and Julie, and all the graduation things in between.
Celebrations evermore

Celebrating Lauren and Hannah was oh so special—the food at their parties, omg. My cousin Cynthia also graduated; her and Josh are the same age, so that was lovely.
Preparing for my little brother, the last one of us, my bubbi boy, Joshua to graduate was bittersweet. I picked him up for the last time, and we hit the gym together quite a lot on the way home. Before we knew it, it was white-card day, and Josh was done being a senior forever. Then it was treasuring pick-ups with E, because next year he’ll be driving himself as a junior :,( WHY DOES TIME EXIST FOR US MORTALS ON THIS SIDE OF ETERNITY?!??!?! I get it, but like ???
Treasured “lasts”
And, oh, cherishing time with my beloved friends, the Mills girls, was wondrous and sweet and sad and happy and oh, oh, oh. Our pastor announced that he had accepted a call to preach back in Mississippi, and it was truly like someone had wrenched my heart out of my body. The Mills have done nothing but shower us with love and affection since we arrived at Grace Presbyterian last April, and it has been the hugest joy of my life coming to their church and finding spiritual rest at long last. Their daughters have become sweet friends, true sisters, and I am so sad to see them go. I will touch much more on this in the future, but I shall just say that I am truly so thrilled for them to start this new chapter of life, but I will miss them something fierce.

As such, all my gym sessions with Lauren were extra fun, and we made the most out of our time together. We planned another girls trip to Morro Bay, and it was a day of sisterhood, bonding, beloved memories, and girlish delights.
My baby brother isn’t so baby anymore </3

Joshua’s graduation night was a day that I will greatly cherish for the rest of my life. I have written about it in my journal, so I will refrain from gushing in this space and just say that I am so immensely proud of the young man my brother has become. It has been such a joy and privilege to see how the Lord has moulded him, and I rejoice in Joshua’s love for Christ and for others. I can’t wait to see where God takes Him as he begins college and eventually enters the workforce in his discipline!
“And then, one fairy night, May became June.”
So said Fitzgerald, and so was he right. Joshua’s grad was the very last night of May, and June held joys evermore.

June 4 was one of the very best days of my life. It was a red-letter moment for my sister and I, in the most important part of our life: our walks with Christ. We officially became members of Grace Presbyterian, with our family and Keely there to watch and support us. It has been a long journey to this moment, but by God’s wondrous grace, He allowed us to see that day. (Again, more to come on this in future!) It was a day of utter, utter joy. Truly the Lord’s sovereign care was made so manifest to us on this day.

My final week of working at my school site was such a beautiful time. I absolutely prized all of the time I got to spend with each of my students, and I shed many tears on the final day of school. As I held tight the little ones who cried with me, I was utterly overwhelmed at this absolutely sensational year and a half working with such wonderful people, and for such wonderful kids. And so spring turned to summer in yet another colour.
AND SO CAME SUMMER! Sweet, beloved, darling, prized summer.
Our first week, we took an overnight trip with the girlies, once more celebrating our last moments with Lauren. It was such fun to show them around all our usual haunts at Pismo, since that’s what we know, and Morro Bay is their area of expertise! (long-form photo dump coming for this trip + SD)

All too soon, June 18th rolled around, and it was the Mills’ final Sunday with us. So. many. tears. It was a blessing to be able to thank them for all they have done for my family and I.
Had some lovely days at home, and then we set off for San Diego—partly to support my cousin E, who was playing at a tournament there, and partly to visit as we hadn’t been to SD since 2021. It was such a nice trip, and my favourite parts were definitely Little Italy and sunbathing + reading The Poppy War at the beach. I was finally making progress with my Goodreads goal, and getting my reading mojo back is always such a wonderful feeling.

And such has been the transition from spring to summer thus far. July has held many delights, and I can’t wait to recount what it—and the rest of this loveliest season—has given me. Let me know what you have enjoyed about the last several weeks!
