The fourth month of 2023 has come and gone already, and it was filled with loveliness all around. Here’s the April ’23 Edit!!
Week 1: Holy Week

We left for Scott’s Valley on Palm Sunday, for what has become an annual Easter break trip for the five of us. The drive was dreamy green, with dampness in the air and the welcoming promise of cool sunny spring days ahead. I immensely enjoyed our stay, and it was such such fun! We caught the rest of March Madness, watched American Gospel: Christ Crucified, tried out a new coffeeshop that instantly became a favourite (hello 11th Hour!), went on hikes, and had wondrous thrifting success.

Good Friday was very good! We got to spend time with our cousins, Cynthia and Jayden, and it was the bestttt. We brunched at Mimi’s, went to Barnes & Noble (I restrained myself), and after I dropped them off home, went over to spend time with our other cousins, Julie & Ethan. An epic day for cousinship! We closed the night off with a bonfire in the backyard, and we all spontaneously went around and shared a little something: I shared my most recent poem, “Limbs”, which was fitting for the occasion, my Tio recited a psalm, my brother shared a short story, Julie and Melody sang a hymn, and best of all, we got to hear my Tia’s absolutely incredible story of escape from Communist Laos in its entirety.
Easter Sunday was truly divine; ‘twas a glorious reflection of what we will have in glory, on the other side of eternity. We all went to church together and thrilled to celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Christ our Saviour. I broke my Lenten fasts, and my GOODNESS WAS THE COFFEE SO UTTERLY EXCEPTIONAL!!!!! The best Easter EVER thus far.
Week 2: Fresh air and the return of the sun

Did lots of scrolling on Pinterest, some Spring organising to my bathroom wardrobe (basically finally got my gobs and gobs of room decor into totes and into the garage lmao), and went to Han’s first to plan our Anne read-along (we are all currently struggling atm RIP) + a walk in the most gorgeous Spring dusk + the jacuzzi, and then again for her birthday!
Week 3: ROTK and… tbh that’s it, that’s the highlight

WHEN I TELL YOU THAT EXPERIENCING RETURN OF THE KING (EXTENDED EDITION) IN THE CINEMA WAS LIFE CHANGING !!!!
Myself, Melody, and Julie went together, and it was just such an EXPERIENCE. Seeing one of my most beloved stories in this way was just breathtaking, and it evoked so much genuine joy and emotion. I cried way more than I usually do, and I was tearing up and weeping at parts that I usually don’t. SO. GOOD.
Week 4: Random bits

Gel nails (my first time!), blocks with one of my faves, a cute note from another lovely student, and happy 16th birthday E!!!!
monthly playlist: french bread and birdsong
The April ’23 edit was full of joys, big and small, and ‘tis a month that I will always look back on with the utmost fondness. How was your April? What moments stood out to you? <3
