Okay, yes maybe these 2020 goals are a bit on the late side… I took January, very, very slowly. I’ve only eased myself into consistency this last week :’) I thought I would take a moment to share some of my creative resolutions & see if anyone else is aiming for similar things.
Let’s get into it…
Take my journal with me everywhere. (And not be afraid to mess it up a bit or fill it with other little things!!) I want to document more moments, more feelings, more everything this year. I’ve been a “journaler” long before I considered myself a writer, and certainly before I actually enjoyed writing & creating things with my words. So, I find myself needing to be more intentional with it–I’ll enjoy it even more!
Primarily, I have marked down events, happenings, and moments that are special to me in my life–including the mundane or summaries of what’s been happening lately–a record of my life, so to speak. However, I feel like that’s made it a bit easier for me to forget about my journal, and while it does have a special place in my life, I haven’t prioritised it like I want to.
oh goodness, please brace yourselves for quite a bit of text, i apologise
Actually starting & writing in my “Remembrance Book.” I recall Laura Ingalls, from LHOTP, mentioning every so often that if she had such a book, she would mark down certain occurrences. What I’d like to do with mine is write down the random little memories that come to me. Things like the way this clay-baked red & yellow flower smelled & the fact that it stayed in my bathroom drawer at my old house until we moved. (??? why did I do that ???) Or sitting on the kitchen floor of that house when we had just moved in, watching my mom pop some popcorn–what would be my first snack in that house. You know? I already have a little journal for it; all I have to do is fill it out.
WORK ON MY WIPS FOR THE LOVE OF WRITING. I have two or three in the process, and I need to be c o n s i s t e n t with them. There’s a specific one I’ve been working on for years, & I’m going to change the process up to make it come more naturally for me. (Time to stop being afraid to mess. things. up. !!! 2020 is the year I finish at least one of them. At least.)
almost done, i swear
Start a travel journal. It’s been a tradition of mine to keep a travel diary. Here, I concisely & simply mark down where we’re going & what we’re doing, along with the time of day. I love that, and my family often query me for what year we did such & such because they know I have it written down :’) Now, I am going to keep those little diaries up, but I want a journal that goes a bit deeper. When I’m travelling, this will the be journal I take with me everywhere. It will be used for moments of inspiration, receipts or other mementos, & and other little bits that will help encapsulate that trip.
Ahhh, finally, I come to a close :’)

Clearly, my 2020 goals reflect my everlasting desire for writing more this year. Crossing my fingers that I make that happen this year!! I’m excited to be a bit messy, bolder, and looking for more creativity in all the possible places. What are some of your creative goals for 2020??
