Summer is my FAVOURITE time of the year, right next to Christmas. I THRIVE in the summertime. Over the years, I’ve begun little traditions and routines that I keep every year, and I wanted to share them! I feel like some of them are a little quirky which is very reflective of my personality haha :’)
1. First off, I love to decorate my room all beachy & patriotic for the summer months. June has Flag Day; July brings Independence Day, so it just makes sense that my room reflects some of my fav patriotic days. Summer means sea, sand, & sun, so I put shells, sea stones, and more all around my room!
2. I read a number of books specifically during the summertime, but I thought I’d write a separate post about that! It’ll probably be up mid-July as I have other content planned until then! (When that post does go up, I’ll link it here>> Books I Read Every Summer.)

3. Summer means no makeup or hardly any ever. I usually only put it on about twice a week, if at all during the summer months, or when I’m on holiday! I love letting my skin breathe, sticking to just my skincare routine daily, and catching the sun’s rays (but using SPF still!).
4. My whole workout routine changes and shifts to the morning! This is my favourite time to work out, and it’s really hard to do so during the school year. (I usually have to exercise in the afternoon.) I wake up, wash my face, have a banana or another healthy carb-heavy snack, stretch out, and get going to the gym for a run, some abs, and whatever muscle group I’m working that day. It’s the best feeling to get your workout done and dusted in the morning.

5. This brings me to my next favourite routine: waking up early. Now, during the school year, I have the hardest time getting up and pushing myself to get ready for the day. Not so during summer :’) I want to make the most of each day; every hour is precious, and adventure is always around the corner! How can I make the best memories if I’m sleeping all day or starting my day late?! I’m working on making that my attitude all year long, but let me tell you, it’s super easy for me to wake up and pop out of bed when June and July are upon me.
6. I can spend all day colouring in my Johanna Bashford colouring book, Lost Ocean. It’s so therapeutic and relaxing and is therefore the perfect summer activity. Colouring, scrapbooking, or visual journaling is one of my fav past times during Summer. Doing so by the pool, while I’m sunbathing, or just hanging out with the a/c inside, is bliss.

7. I’ve loved The Chronicles of Narnia since I was a young girl. Every summer, I like to listen to the incredibly well-done audio dramas of these books that were done by Focus on the Family Radio Theatre. Listening to these, whilst colouring or scrapbooking, is something that I’ve been doing since I was about 10. I’m 19 now, and I still do to this day, but I don’t think it’s something I’ll ever get tired of :’) (holy crap I’ve been doing this one for nearly 10 years, WILD how fast time flies!!!!!)
8. Summer for me and my family also means our annual, week-long trip to the Five Cities area along the coast. This is my favourite week of the year, and I’m probably going to spend at least one year of my college education at Cal Poly SLO because I love this place so much. I looove to plan for trips, and as this is my favourite, it’s no surprise that I like to begin my prep a few weeks in advance. We usually go in July, so about midway through June, I like to get out my notebooks, make loads of lists, and think out everything I’m going to be taking and wearing on this little holiday. I started doing this when I was 12, and I’m so glad I did because not only is it one of the most exciting times of my summer, but it’s one of the traditions that has made me the organised little planner that I am today :’)

What a fun little chatty post this was! I feel like I haven’t done one like this for agesssss. I’m probably going to be posting twice a week for the next couple of weeks because I have so much I want to blog about, and I want to do so in the thick of my summer adventures because I’m crazy :’) I’d love to hear any summer traditions or routines that you have, so please do share those with me in the comments!
