Two Saturday’s ago, we headed up to Great America for a day of rainy fun. I knew it was going to rain, so I wore my fav Tommy Hilfiger jacket not expecting it to be CHUCKING DOWN. In retrospect, I should have taken the swim parka that I thrifted last month. It’s so big, soft, and warm, and it was a missed opportunity because I won’t be able to wear it til autumn/winter. But anyyywayyyys, it was a lovely day, and I loved every second of it, even when my hair was soaked & my feet wet :’)
We stopped at our favvvv place, Casa de Fruta, on the way. I have written up an entire photo-heavy post on the place, but I feel like I need to do a little series of each of the cute places within it since there’s actually so much more to the place than what I’ve already shared!
I curated a bomb playlist for the almost-3-hour drive there. After a little stop at Starbucks for some breakfast, since we did have to set out at 6 a.m. to get the most of the day, the drive was such fun. I don’t know about you, but I really do enjoy the actual journey to the destination just as much as being at the place itself.
We finally arrived to a very gloomy Santa Clara. It was breezy and the ominous clouds signaled the rain that would come later on in the day. I got on a few rides, nothing crazy because I’m not the biggest fan of roller coasters, but I had loads of fun on everything from the good old-fashioned wooden roller coasters to the swinging airborne trolleys.
Look at this cute little Starbucks within the park!! I couldn’t help myself, so I had it for lunch as well as breakfast :’) I love Starbucks, probably a little too much haha. I spent the first two hours of the heavy rain in the cafe enjoying my lunch and reading the book I brought.
I finally ventured out when the rain turned back into a drizzle (though it did rain harder later on anyways haha), and I had a lovely last three hours before they closed the park early due to the heavy rain. We had Pizza-My-Heart on the way out, and enjoyed the rainy drive home. It was really one of my favourite days of the years so far, and I can’t help but keep looking at the photos from this lovely day trip.
